Does television contribute to loss of memory?

I have heard several people offer opinions on what they may think causes symptoms such as memory loss, having trouble remembering words, concentration problems. Many opinions seem to point to over stimulation. (Television, pornography, music, alcohol) At any rate, younger people who have had less exposure to these stimulations, (cumulatively) seemed to be troubled less by their effects, whereas older people who have had more cumulative exposure to over stimulation tend to exude more of its symptoms, assuming they are the cause. Also I would like to point out that certain people tend to be more sensitive to these influences than others. Any thoughts? Does anyone agree or disagree?
