I had to turn off my television whenever Ronald Reagan or either of the two Bushes spoke. I just couldn’t listen to their blather. I don’t mean for this to be a partisan question, though.

Who would you not listen to and why?

Do you think television news stations are being easy on him for now, but will air unfavorable reports about him if he is nominated? Do you think the favorable and unfavorable reporting be equal in the general election?

Tree asked:

Prior to the 1960’s, Americans had knowledge of their presidential candidates through the airwaves and radios and were able to base their opinions on only what they heard.

After the 1960’s, television brought a new dimension to presidential election as voters, for the first time, are able to see images of the men who they are voting for. Although this allows the voters to see their candidates give speeches on TV, often times people base their opinions solely on what they see as oppose to the real issues. Has television transformed presidential elections into a race of publicity rather than the issues?

I’d like to know what you think.
